When we talk about equitable partnerships “money” is always a crucial factor. Organizations working on international justice in Belgium and their partners abroad experience the financial aspect in their relationship as an important power factor. Consequently, it is crucial to deepen comprehension why finances are an important power factor and how we can deal with these power imbalances in an different way. This session therefore focuses on alternative ways of financing (e.g. direct funding, reversed funding, etc.) and the link will be made with the research “Shift The Power: into practice” of NGO federation, 11.11.11 & ACODEV.
We invite an academic to give us an overview about alternative ways of financing that truly shifts power and two organizations to inspire us on how they in practice decolonize finances & funding: Peace Direct & One World Together.
